Note:
The window was originally commissioned for The
New Reformed Church of Greenville, Jersey City, NJ
in 1890.
Condition:
Excellent, recently fully restored to museum standards,
scattered minor repaired cracks in glass.
The restoration process at Baltic Art Studio involves several meticulous steps:
Assessment: Evaluating the condition of the stained glass to determine the extent of damage and the appropriate restoration approach.
Documentation: Photographing and tracing the existing design to ensure accurate replication during restoration.
Disassembly: Carefully removing the stained glass from its setting and disassembling it to address individual components.
Cleaning: Gently cleaning each piece to remove dirt, grime, and old lead came, preserving the original glass.
Repair and Replacement: Fixing cracked or broken pieces and sourcing matching glass for replacements when necessary.
Releading: Assembling the glass pieces with new lead came, ensuring structural integrity and alignment with the original design.
Soldering and Cementing: Soldering joints and applying cement to secure the glass and weatherproof the window.
Reinstallation: Installing the restored stained glass back into its original frame or setting.
